Procedures Necessary Prior to Beginning Orthodontic Treatment

Initial Consultation

The first visit to Dr Knoles is an initial evaluation of the orthodontic condition. You will learn if treatment is needed, when it should start, and how much it will cost. Many other questions can be answered at this visit. There is no charge for this visit.

Diagnostic Records

Before treatment can begin, models of the teeth are obtained and panoramic and head x-rays and photographs are taken. These are used to thoroughly evaluate the condition and to create a treatment plan designed specifically for our patient. There is a fee for this service. The fee is included in the treatment contract if active treatment is started immediately.

We will schedule a follow-up conference to share the results of the diagnosis and discuss any unusual problemsd. Financial options will be discussed and finalized prior to beginning active orthodontic treatment.

Dental Services

Teeth should be in good health before beginning orthodontic treatment. If exposure or extraction of teeth is needed, Dr. Knoles will supply a written prescription at the appropriate time.

Many times our patients will need to be seen in our office for a short visit a few days before orthodontic appliances are fitted for the placement of separators. The separators make the fitting and placing of the orthodontic appliances much easier. This may be done at the first visit or after taking the diagnostic records.
